The breath is not just air—it’s the bridge between body and mind, past and present, fear and freedom.
What is Somatic Trauma Release Breathwork?
Somatic Trauma Release Breathwork is a trauma-informed practice that uses conscious, connected breathing to help release stress, tension, and emotions stored in the body.
In each session, we combine breathwork with specific movement, somatic awareness, and space for integration. This creates the conditions for your body to do what it naturally knows how to do, release, reset, and return to balance.
What is trauma?
We all carry some form of trauma. As Peter Levine says:
“Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence.”
The word "trauma" comes from the Greek word for "wound." However, trauma isn't just what happened to you; it's what your body had to hold onto when it couldn't fully process an experience. This unprocessed energy becomes an imprint, a wound stored in your nervous system.
Like any fresh wound, touching it too soon can be painful. If left unattended, it hardens over time, creating tension and rigidity. When the body is rigid, there’s no space for growth, flexibility, or flow — we get stuck..
We may think we’ve moved on and even forget the original pain, but the body remembers. Over time, these imprints manifest as stress, numbness, disconnection, or repeating patterns in our lives and relationships.
How is breathwork a tool?
Through conscious, connected breathing combined with specific movements and somatic awareness, we revisit these wounds — not to relive them, but to provide them with presence and safety.
When we approach these areas with care, we begin to reprogram the nervous system. This is where healing begins. The body can finally release what it has been holding onto, creating space for ease, flexibility, and growth.
As this process unfolds, the patterns that once kept us stuck begin to shift. We feel more grounded and present. We show up differently in our lives and relationships—with more clarity, resilience, and capacity to connect.
Who is this for?
This is for anyone who is ready to reconnect with their body and create more space for ease, clarity, and presence, as well as for those who are curious about exploring a deeper connection with themselves.
This is especially helpful if you feel:
- You feel anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or constantly "on."
-If stress, tension, or old patterns keep showing up in your life or relationships, this is for you.
-You carry experiences that still feel "alive," even if your mind has moved on.
-You struggle to slow down and feel fully present and at ease.
-You sense something beneath the surface that is asking for release.
This work can complement talk therapy and support anyone seeking nervous system regulation and embodied healing.
What to Expect in a Session?
Each session is a safe, guided experience designed to support your body and nervous system. Here’s what it typically includes:
- Grounding and intention setting:
Arriving in the space and clarifying what you need today.
- Breathwork practice:
Conscious, connected breathing, supported by specific movements, to release tension and mobilize stuck energy.
- Somatic awareness:
Gentle prompts to help you stay connected to what’s happening in your body.
- Integration time:
Time to rest, process, and allow your body to settle before returning to daily life.
Every session moves at your pace. The goal is not to force a breakthrough, but rather to create a safe space for your body to release what it’s ready to release.
